Thank you! Great Comment! And for those parents who think a simple call to the office would work, unfortunately, it wouldn't work for his parents because they do not see anything wrong with him (a six year old) playing with a knife at home and bringing it into school.

OomYaaqub, You are a prime example of why we need to pay teachers more to put up with people like you. You need to get into the classroom to see how times have changed. The teacher is just trying to protect your child.

She's the one that decided to take it to the media. She is probably embarrassed in her Delaware community because the other parents will know that he will be out of school for 45 days and therefore she wants to come up with some story as to why her child brought a knife into school.

So your saying that his parents should get a lawyer because he is entitled to be the exception to the rule. If the parents didn't like the rules they could have attended school board meetings prior to this incident.

That parent's mistake could have cost another child his life if the wrong child got ahold of it. Why don't you volunteer in the school system so that you understand what is really going on in the schools.

Zero-tolerance means zero-tolerance and it is that way for a reason. To protect our children. What responsible parents let their 6 year old have a knife. I think protective services (child abuse) needs to be looking into this case. What happens if another 6 year old gets ahold of that knife.
